Take a trip from El Golea north. Two hundred sixty kilometers separate us from our destination and the road and wonder … slate stone plains shine under the sun, beyond the sand begins to blow and the dunes change places. And there is, there stands Ghardaia , the capital and most impressive of the five cities M’zab in Algeria . Built in the eleventh century, stands proudly with its grand mosque with a minaret that has awesome. White is the color that is imposed on buildings, either in the religious building as private homes. A large palette of colors is what gives his famous market.

And it is this one of the main attractions of the city and came to him on the street Ibn Rosten . It is a rectangular shaped square and outdoor stores in the offered food, clothing and handicrafts, mainly, carpets and tapestries. The market operates every day throughout the day, but those who know recommend visiting during the morning.

Of course walking through the old city is an adventure in itself there with its narrow streets and frescoes, there is the Grand Mosque . This, of appearance of strength is inside, a simplicity that draws attention. It also has a beautiful exterior and minaret, without ornamentation of any kind, pyramidal shape. And near the religious center is the cemetery of tombs uniform and simple as the rest of the buildings. Apparently, the show is not part of this town.

Visit the capital of Algeria . Did you know that has a name similar to your country? If the capital is called Algiers ! Did you know that this is the largest city of Algeria ? Yes, and is considered the second largest city in the Maghreb (after Casablanca ). In many other places, is known as ” Algiers the White “. Why? As for the color of its buildings, which can be seen from the sea.

How did we get here? As we move towards the west side of the Mediterranean Sea , there sits a bay on which the city is built.

What Algiers ? The city’s name derives from the Arabic word “Al-jaz?’ir” which means “the islands”, referring to the four islands located off the coast of the city. How interesting, always learning new words and their meanings!

There are several public buildings of interest including the Kasbah Quarter , the Plaza Martyrs , government offices, the Mosque of Ketchaoua, the Grand Mosque , the New Mosque and the Church of the Holy Trinity. Let’s consider each of these sights.

The main building of the Kasbah was begun in 1516 at the expense of a much older building and served as a palace to the French conquest. A road has halved the center of the building, the mosque was turned into ruins and ended up hearing room collapsed. However, they still maintain some marble arches and some columns. There are also traces of vaults used to house the most valuable treasures of that era.

The Great Mosque is the oldest mosque in Algiers . It was the first construction of Yusuf ibn Tashfin, but has since been rebuilt several times. The pulpit can be seen an inscription showing that the construction has been around since 1097. The interior of the mosque is square and is divided into different environments by columns joined by arches. The New Mosque dating from the seventeenth century and is shaped like a Greek cross. Inside it is very similar to the Grand Mosque . It would be good to visit both to compare!

The Church of the Holy Trinity (built in 1870), stands at the southern end of

the Calle d’Isly , near Fort Bab Azoun . The interior is beautifully decorated with marble of different colors. Many of these pieces of marble, contain inscriptions that tell stories about the British residents from the time of John Tipton. A table shows that in 1631, two Algerian pirate ships landed in Ireland . Finally let’s talk about Ketchaoua Mosque , which is located at the foot of Kasbah. Did you know that before independence in 1962 used to be the old Cathedral of St. Philippe ? The main entrance, reached by helicopter to a height of 23 feet, with a portico which is supported by four black marble pillars. Many of the white marble columns that can be seen today belong to the original mosque. In one of the chapels, the tomb containing the bones of St. Jerome.

Algeria is a country located in Africa of the north. It is also the largest country in the Mediterranean Sea , the second largest in Africa and the eleventh largest in the world, of course, in terms of overall land area.

It is noteworthy that borders with Tunisia in the northeast, Libya in the east, Nigeria to the southeast, and Mali to the southwest, a few kilometers west of the Sahara in the west to Morocco in the northwest and the Mediterranean Sea the north. Did you know that Algeria is a member of the League Arab , the United Nations , the EU Africa and also of OPEC? Yes, likewise contributed to the creation of the Union Arab Maghreb .

Much of the coastal area, is covered by hills and mountains, having few natural ports in the area. The area from the coast to or Tellian Tell Atlas , is the most fertile in the area. On the other hand, the Ahaggar Mountains , also known as the Hoggar , form a very large region in central Sahara in southern Algeria . They are located about 1,500 kilometers south of the capital. Surely, you can not miss the major cities of Algeria , which are Oran , Constantine , Algiers and Annaba .

As for temperature, it can be very changeable. The highest temperature was recorded in Tiguentour has been 60.5 º C and is probably the highest record in the history of Algeria .

There are many places in Algeria as part of World Heritage Sites, which are categorized in this way by UNESCO within them is of Beni Hammad Al Qal’a , which is the first capital of the empire Hammadid; Tipasa , a Phoenician city which was later Roman and Djemila and Timgad , both Roman ruins; the M’Zab Valley , a valley containing a large urbanized oasis; also the Casbah of Algiers , a very important place. The only World Heritage Site is the natural n’Ajjer Tassili . Certainly there were quite difficult moments for the tourism industry in Algeria , especially when civil war exploded in 1992. After a decade of conflict, have overcome some of the barriers, making it much more accessible place. There is no doubt that Algeria is one of the most impressive North Africa , so be sure to visit this magnificent country.

Algeria is a country in North Africa and the second largest country in the continent. It borders the Mediterranean Sea to the north, Tunisia in the northeast, Libya to the east, Niger to the southeast, Mali and Mauritania in the southwest, and Morocco and Western Sahara desert to the west.

The mountains of the Atlas are the geographic feature that most characterizes this country. These extend to the north and mountain ranges are formed by folding two: the northern called the Tell Atlas and the south, called the Saharan Atlas. In addition, the Algerian territory is mainly dominated by the great Sahara Desert , the largest in Africa.

The country’s largest city is Algiers , is a city in the days of the Phoenician and Roman empires. There are several museums in the city of Algiers: The Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions, the Bardo Museum, the National Museum of Classical Antiquities and Muslim and the National Museum of Fine Arts. Other sites of interest are the Mosque of the Fish Market and Chaat with its souks packed.

The Citadel , the historic city center with narrow streets and houses in Roman style with high walls and arcaded courtyards. The Martyrs’ Square is north of the waterfront and serves as a terminal for city buses. Sidna Hammam, the oldest baths in Algiers, is still used.
Algeria is a country in North Africa , bordering strong tourist centers such as Morocco or Tunisia . Its northern part gives the Mediterranean Sea and the River Niger Mali and delineate the south. The Republic of Algeria is within the range known as the Maghreb, “the place where the sun sets,” and throughout its history has been subjected to invasions of their territory until its independence in 1962.

Referring to what is tourism, we must speak of a country with great geographical richness. In the area of ??its coastline, concentrates a large amount of tourism, and therefore all the hotel facilities. The cities that populate it are quaint and have a shopping mall, and like all of Algeria, are intercepted by the ruins for the early periods.

Algiers is the capital of Algeria. There you can find many museums including the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions, or the National Museum of Classical Antiquities and Muslim communities. It is also advisable to visit the Alcazaca, its historic center. For the tourist who seeks to penetrate the history of this country, no better place than the city of Annaba. There are the remains of the Roman city of Hippo Regius, and bridges have been erected by both Muslims and Christians and Romans. While in Algeria, many tourist companies will offer visitors the unforgettable adventure of a safari in the desert or in the paradisiacal oasis.

The visa must be requested well in the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania in Madrid or the Consulate General of the RIM in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Quintana Street, n º 14 – Ciudad Jardin – 35 005 Las Palmas de Gran Canaria – Telefs.: 928/23.48.33 and 928/23.45.00 – Fax: 928/29.31.66). You can also get at the border for a price of around 60 euros.

* Algeria

The Algerian authorities also require visas. The consular fee charged for issuing visas for tourists is around 25 Euros (for employers and employees of Spanish companies have superior consular fees). You must have a passport with a minimum of six months of operation, complete the form and two passport size photographs. The embassy is on the streets of Madrid General Oraá 12 and there is a consulate in the Eusebio Sempere Calle Alicante 14.

* Libya

As for Libya, a visa is required for entry into the country. Visas must be obtained from the Libyan embassy in Madrid. It is advisable that the visa application is submitted with at least twenty days before the scheduled date for the trip and also must pay the “reasonable” price of 50 euros. Also, get the facts at the embassy because people are not as good Gadaffi friends of the Western tourists and their travel agencies and tourist visas are usually denied for trips that have not been contracted with a travel agency in Libya.

Furthermore, since 15 August, the Libyan authorities in the border require the accreditation of financial means – at least 500 Libyan dinars or its equivalent in euros, 300 – for all those wishing to enter the country unless: you are a tourist who has come by agency and covered all expenses for the stay come on official duty; you are a trainee with student visa, “Erasmus in Tripoli? Absolutely! With two lame … -, official invitations, or family reunification or visiting a resident in Libya, provided you like to be the friend pivot, because it must state that takes care of the expenses of stay and medical care

For processing, you need the passport and four photographs of passport size and format, equally between them and without much difference with the passport (since I have no more than when I was 18). Ratilla not be valid because they are not color copies. Also need a certified translation of your passport (visa included in price). We must also fill out the form supplied by the Libyan embassy in Madrid.

The culture and traditions of the Maghreb open their doors to you. Although, as you can see, some you have to give it more oil than others.

I have not set foot on this fascinating continent where our species began to evolve. I have heard and read stories of travelers who have not done more than fan the flame of adventure that runs inside and increase the desire to step on that land chaotic, breathtaking landscapes, unstable governments – and, unfortunately, often bloody and cruel – temperatures and extreme conditions, people of thousands of ethnic groups, cultures and religions, and wild nature. In fact, my current book nightstand is The Long Way Down, written by Ewan McGregor – Obi Wan Kenobi for Star Wars freaks like me – and Charlie Boorman – the kid from La Selva Esmeralda for big film fans like me, I am fan of Antonio Gasset and Film Days program. In the book recount the bike ride from the northern tip of Scotland to the southernmost point of the African continent Cape Agulhas). For now I recommend it.

So if you too are you in love with Africa, or simply think you are curious and visit soon: here’s information on the requirements for entry and stay in some of the countries of the African mosaic. Soon we will try to cover the entire continent by facilitating the work to travelers.

* Morocco and Tunisia

To walk about the streets of Marrakech, Agadir or deeper into the Berber region, provided that the maximum stay is 3 months, only you’ll need a passport valid for at least six months from the time of departure.

The same applies to Tunisia, but only here you can also enter into force with an ID whenever you are traveling with a tour package.

* Egypt

However, if you want to dive deeper and explore the land of the Egyptian pharaohs, you will need a visa unless you’re a cruise passenger from entering the country by any other port in Egypt and whose stay will not exceed 3 days. Of course, whether you need visa or not, will always be fundamental requirement to hold a passport with 6 months validity from the date of departure.

The regular visa entitles a maximum stay of 30 days and a single entry into the country. Can be requested at the Egyptian Embassy in Madrid although those who enter Egypt for an international airport may apply for a visa at the Immigration office at that airport. The cost of this visa at the airport is 15 USD.

For visas of longer duration or multi-entry is necessary to satisfy other requirements for it – and if you are traveling to Egypt in general, since the requirements, price and duration of visas are very changeable – you must call the Embassy and stay informed.
