PostHeaderIcon Tourism South Africa: What cities around the Cape discover?

cape townThe region around the Cape, South Africa is beautiful, the cities compete with each other in magnificence and majesty. If you do not have time to see everything, because it unfortunately make a choice, whether you want to walk in the Swiss countryside or the Vosges or French roots back to Franschhoek.

Stellenbosch is a nice town or Hollandaise Cape architecture is well represented. The downtown is alive and the wine region around one of the most beautiful. This is a city worth visiting for its historic sites (Netherlands, Georgian, Victorian), for its atmosphere, for its student nightlife, a little more lively than elsewhere.

Paarl, on the banks of the Breede, is much less interesting, there are not so nice houses. Sites to see are less accessible and the atmosphere of the city is quiet and somewhat deserted.

Tulbagh in the Breede Valley, is not to be missed. The architecture is superb and the background of Witsenberg is magnificent. Ceres is a city that we loved. The road that leads there is breathtaking. It is the little Swiss South Africa. The passes to access offers a unique panorama. For lodging, try the Belmont Hotel, an ancient palace a few decrepit and full of charm (it feels like a movie, and wait for the ghosts you tickle the feet at night).

Worcester is a city ugly, no other word seems more appropriate! Move on!

Franschhoek has disappointed us. Its location in the most beautiful valley in the region should enhance this city, but this is not the case. Only the presence of French Huguenots, a museum. Otherwise, the rest are selling an image far from what we might expect. French restaurants, for example, have only the name and flag in effigy, no interest for the rest.

Rest Hermanus and whales. Very nice Sunday stroll, and you see whales, (especially in winter) is extraordinary. It’s relaxing, eating an ice cream there and the ride is really great.
