Luangwa: “the last true African” in Zambia
Although the title is not meant to be foreshadowing a massive invasion of tourists, the site of the Luangwa Valley in Zambia, is one of the few African strongholds preserving intact and full of wildlife. Located in a relatively isolated region between the Great Plains and the Kalahari Desert, the valley was held on the traditional routes for travelers and tourists, and preserves one of the last strongholds in Africa where safaris are conducted on foot, in a tradition that endures decades:

The Luangwa River is one of the main tributaries of the Zambezi. The river is a magnet for the life of the Luangwa Valley, one of Africa’s last untouched landscapes, home to incredible number and variety of wildlife species. Located northeast of Zambia, at a height of 1500 meters above sea level, the valley has been declared a reservation near the border with Tanzania and Malawi.
